Tawny's New Ride

Tawny has been working and saving for almost a year now so that she could get herself a car. A few weeks ago, we stumbled upon the perfect little car for her. It was still too rich for Tawny's budget, so Mom and Dad agreed to pay half, if she promised to not miss any family vacations... forever. (We're desparately afraid of her graduating next spring.) So here's a pic. Tawny had to run off to girls' camp the day after we found it. So, the rest of the family graciously agreed to pick it up and take it for a joyride for her. The bad news is, about two weeks later, after finally getting it tuned-up, safety inspected, insured, and registered, at a very dear cost. Tawny was driving home from work late one night, her third time actually driving her car, and a hose came off, the car overheated and we lost the engine. So....now Tawny's saving for an engine.

Visit From Victoria

First Rehanna came and stayed with us for a few days and spent lots of good time working with Tel and the horses. Somehow I came away from that with no pictures. Then, the day after Rehanna headed for home, Victoria came to stay for a few days. I did manage to swipe a few of her pictures. The first day we did a fun little hike in hackberry canyon. The write-up said we'd get to hike barefoot in the sandy creek bed, but about 1/3 of the way into it we still hadn't hit water and were gettin' a little sad about that, and then from nowhere, the water materialized. Woo-Hoo! So we all took off our shoes and kept on hiking. It was really cool (literally and figuratively) to hike barefoot in the water. We really enjoyed squishing our toes in the air-filled watery sand. It was so bubbly and soft and wierd. The next day we got some lake time and played on the jet ski. After a 50+ mph ride back from the dock with Jade, Victoria said she wasn't riding on the jet ski with him anymore. We got some dinner at our favorite eatery, Antelope Point with our favorite busser, Tawny, taking care of us, and almost didn't get back to Wahweap before dark. A long, good day.

Just a hot afternoon on the lake....

A week or so later, the air temperature was up to 105 and the water was 72, so we decided to go cool off in the lake and take some pictures of the Cobalt.
There was a paddle board waitin' and ready on the boat so we took it out for a spin. First Tel tried to tip us, and then grampa got in on the action.

Don't mess with the gramma Tel!

The Next Day

We descended on

Lake Powell. At only 65 degrees, the water was just a bit frigid, as you can see from Jared and Jake's faces. (I can attest to the fact that niether of them are breathing in these pictures.) We headed out to Face Canyon on Lake Powell on a houseboat rented from Antelope Point Marina. It was definitely luxury camping. A/C Refrigerators, Freezers, Soft beds, flushing, well almost flushing toilets. Ahhh.

Jake and Tawny were our champion wakeboarders. They say a tower makes all the difference. After a fun filled two days on the water, we extended the fun for a few hours with dinner at Antelope Point Marina, and a quick trip out to Horseshoe Bend.

The Houseboat weekend was so much fun that we decided to do it again in July!

Summer at Last

Here's a fun shot of Jake and Russ shimmying
down a big drop in the slot canyon.
Ty's favorite thing to do was wedge himself between two walls and climb up above all of our heads.
Summer's Finally here, and I thought I'd share a few pictures of the adventures we're having this year. Memorial Day weekend we explored Wire Pass and part of Buckskin Gulch, the world's longest slot canyon with some of the crew, Lesa, Jake and Russ. It was really cool. We need to go back and do the whole thing soon!
